a.Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre
Since 2008, we have partnered with the Wildlife Conservation Society Galle (WCSG) to support Sri Lanka’s first privately managed wild animal hospital, located near the Hiyare Rainforest a 600 acre tropical reserve home to many rare and endangered species. The hospital is equipped with an operating theatre and facilities to treat injured or sick animals from the forest and surrounding areas. On average, around 40 animals receive care each month.
As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship in Sri Lanka, Nations Trust Bank provides funding for veterinary care, medicine, food, staff salaries, and transport—helping ensure these animals get the treatment they need to return safely to the wild.
b.Biodiversity Research Centre
Through our partnership with WCSG, we provide ongoing support for biodiversity research, conservation publications, and awareness programmes across Sri Lanka. This includes educational initiatives such as lectures, workshops, and exhibitions for schoolchildren and university students, along with biodiversity assessments and species‑specific conservation projects. WCSG works closely with the Forest Department and the Department of Wildlife Conservation to ensure each programme delivers meaningful, science‑backed impact.
