Our Sustainability Approach
At Nations Trust Bank, sustainability is embedded in everything we do. Guided by global standards and national frameworks, we strive to create long-term value for our stakeholders while protecting the environment and supporting communities.
Our approach is built on three key pillars:
- Sustainable Finance – Integrating ESG principles into financial solutions, promoting responsible investment, and managing ESG risks.
- Responsible Organization – Reducing our carbon footprint, conserving energy, managing waste responsibly, and ensuring a safe workplace.
- Sustainable Culture – Fostering well-being, diversity, inclusion, while encouraging sustainable lifestyles and driving impactful community programs.
We align with global frameworks such as GRI, AA1000, COSO, and IFRS sustainability standards, and actively support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our efforts are strengthened through partnerships with leading organizations, including the Sri Lanka Banking Association Sustainable Banking Initiative, Biodiversity Sri Lanka, and the Wildlife & Nature Protection Society, among others.

Our Initiatives
Environment
On Environmental Stewardship (SDG 13,14 and 15), bank pursues action on below areas:
- Biodiversity Research and Education
- Direct Conservation Efforts (Reforestation, Species Conservation including Animal Hospital and Rescue Service at Hiyare)
- Sponsorship of Nations Trust WNPS Public Lecture Series
Arts & Culture
On Arts & Cultural Development (SDG 4, 9, and 11), the bank pursues action on below areas:
- Restoration of George Keyt’s mural art at the Gothami Viharaya in Colombo
- Support for the George Keyt Foundation Charity Auction held in collaboration with Sotheby’s.
- Sponsorship of “Sri Lankan Art” annual art exhibition in partnership with the George Keyt Foundation
- Sponsorship of the “Kala Pola” annual event to support local art and artist.
Creative Entrepreneurship
On Creative Empowerment and Skills Development (SDG 4, 8, and 9), the bank pursues action on below areas:
- Soft Skills Development and Career Guidance initiatives for youth and students
- Educational Support Programmes including O/L Mathematics seminars with Sarasavi Mithuro
- Strengthening higher education through research and student development partnerships
- Digital Access and Learning Support to foster creativity, innovation, and future‑ready capabilities
