Nations Trust Bank has partnered with Biodiversity Sri Lanka a non‑profit organization founded in 2015 that evolved from the Sri Lanka Business & Biodiversity Platform initiated in 2012 to restore 10 hectares of degraded fern land in Halgahawala Opatha. This five‑year project was carried out with guidance from the Forest Department and technical support from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The goal was to transform the site into a protected forest while contributing to Sri Lanka’s broader efforts to develop a biodiversity credit system—helping align conservation with long‑term environmental value.
