In 2019, as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, teams from our Emerging Zones came together to plant 1,100 mangrove and mudilla plants in Kudawa, Kalpitiya. Mangroves play a vital role in protecting Sri Lanka’s coastline from storm surges and floods. They also help fight climate change by capturing and storing large amounts of carbon. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable banking in Sri Lanka, where environmental action is part of how we create long‑term value for the country and its people.
